College of Engineering

Students from accredited colleges and universities, community colleges, and other degree programs at the University of Michigan are welcome as undergraduate transfer students. Admission to the College of Engineering as a transfer student is to a specific degree program. To be considered, you must submit an application directly to the College of Engineering, successfully complete the prerequisite courses, and meet the grade point average requirements of the engineering program to which you apply. Credit from other colleges will generally transfer if a grade of "C" or better is earned in courses equivalent in content to ones offered at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor campus.

Prerequisites include:

  • one semester of English composition
  • linear algebra and differential equations
  • two years of math including Calculus I, II, III
  • general physics I and II (calculus-based) with labs
  • one semester of general/inorganic chemistry or higher and lab (Chemical Engineering requires organic chemistry)
  • one semester of a computer language course preferably in "C", "C++" or Java.
  • three or four courses taken in the humanities and social science areas are recommended

Transfer Course Equivalencies are available for community colleges in the state of Michigan.
